She entered into this life on February 10, 1929 and peaceably returned to our Father's house on March 22, 2024. As a child she was raised in Jacob's Chapel AME Church. She completed eighth grade. Her love of learning later in life led her to take a course at Camden County College because of an unmet desire to continue her education. She earned high marks and exceeded her goal.

She was the beloved wife of the late Richard Brown, the love of her life. Together they raised six children. Bertha was the last matriarch of her generation. Her house was the epicenter for family gatherings. She brought everyone together for any occasion: birthday dinners, holidays, summer 'Family & Friends' barbeque and crab feasts. She cooked regularly and especially those scrumptious Sunday dinners.

She loved being in the presence of people and go out daily to meet up with her friends. She had an undeniable strong character and was a no-none sense person. She created her own narrative. She was very protective of her loved ones. She was sincerely an outdoors person. Her interests included fishing, barbecuing, membership to Long Wood Gardens, long rides in the country, riding motorcycles, pinochle, trivia crossword puzzle games and vacations at the shore. She would not give up her car and driving pass the age of 92.

Bertha was a working woman, serving in various capacities as a means to provide for her family including tending bar, custodial work and shuttle bus driving.

Bertha Brown was the devoted mother of Habiba Soudan (Carlton), Richard Jr. (Vernecer), Lawrence (Joyce), Dawn, and the late Jeanne Lewis and Ronald Brown. She was the loving grandmother of Cheryl, Ade, Erikka, Abdul, Richard Kimani, Lawrence, Nichole, Andrea, Steven, Lynette and Jeffrey, great grandmother of 25 and great-great grandmother of one.
