Obituary of Grace M. McEady

Grace M. McEady, age 83 of Voorhees, passed away on March 5, 2024 at Virtua Hospital in Voorhees, NJ.  She was born in Camden, NJ on September 17, 1940 to the late Melvin McEady and Roxy Sharp-McEady.

Grace was born and raised in South Camden the Centerville Section.  As a child, she enjoyed, swimming and singing. She was a member of a local singing group. She also liked to do hair.  And, was an excellent cook. Grace was an avid traveler.  She loved traveling with her family and friends. Grace enjoyed spending days going shopping with her best friend, Ann Alford and indulging in fine dining.  She was an immaculate dresser who loved to be beautiful and could often be heard saying "I am just sharp.”  After working hard raising her children and then retiring from teaching, she liked to enjoy the finer things in life.  She was an avid exerciser and walker.

Grace accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She joined St. Paul Baptist Church in Camden, NJ. As she attended St. Paul Baptist Church, she was a member of the Hospitality Ministry.  After a while, she went on to join St. Matthew's Baptist Church in Williamstown, NJ where she was a faithful member.  She joined the Golden Age Ministry at St. Mathews Baptist Church.

Grace was educated in the Camden School System. She attended and graduated from Camden County College, where she obtained her Associates Degree in Education. She also graduated from Rowan University with her Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education. She went on to obtain her Certification in Special Education. She earned 30 credits toward her Masters Degree in Special Education. Additionally, she attended Grace Bible Institute in Voorhees, NJ while studying Biblical Studies.

Grace was a special education teacher in the City of Camden, where she taught at the Skill Center, where she devoted her time and special skills in pouring into the inner-city children of the Camden City School System. She went on to teach at Morgan Village Middle School until she retired in 2004.

Grace was the devoted mother of Craig McEdy (Jacqui), Andre McEady and the late Tyrone McEady (Clairissa); Loving grandmother of Craig Martin, Devin McEady, Candice McEady, Andrea McEady, Myles Truitt, Taylor Truitt, Kiara McEady, Tyreon McEady and Kaleem Moore; Dear sister of Joan Goodwater (Walter), Phillip McEady (DeLois) and Thomas McEady, (Shirley).  Grace was predeceased by Melvina McEady-Wilson, Janet McEady (James), Melvin-Jerry McEady, Elizabeth McEady-Smith (Walter), Calvin McEady (Francine), Robert McEady (Shirley). She is also survived by a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to the Visitation and Funeral on Wednesday, March 13 from 9 to11am at the Falco/Caruso & Leonard Pennsauken Funeral Home, 6600 N. Browning Road, where a Funeral Service will be held at 11 am.  Interment will follow at Harleigh Cemetery in Camden.
